In this era dominated by social media, picking up a pen or brush has become a source of immense pressure. We are constantly exposed to the digital world’s flawless filters, where standards of “refinement” and “perfection” fuel our anxiety. Many fear their work is not “good enough” or “professional enough,” causing them to silently abandon their creative passion.
The 2026 9th Taipei Illustration Fair addresses this head-on with a core question: “ Draw, Draw, Draw Anyway! Not Perfect? It’s Okay! ” This powerful inquiry aims to alleviate the burden on every creator. Our goal this year is to shatter the spell of perfectionism cast by comparison culture. We believe the essence of illustration lies in conveying ideas, emotions, and personal joy; its value should never be confined by a single academic standard. We encourage all creators to shift their focus from impeccable “technique” to the most authentic “expression” of their feelings.
We celebrate every mindset dedicated to creation: If you view the act of creating as a source of joy, we urge you to fully immerse yourself. Follow your own ideas, and improvement will be the natural reward of your enjoyment. Embrace the imprecise, the imperfect, and the highly personal style—for those are the unique marks of your identity. At the same time, please stand firm in your resolve. Through continuous experience and persistent effort, you will always find a way to realize your own success.
The 2026 9th Taipei Illustration Fair promotes a movement of “Creative Liberation.” We welcome all beginners, along with works that are experimental, unfinished, or even embody a spirit of playful absurdity. Because on this stage, the most precious things are the truth and freedom exhibited by the creator. “ Not Perfect? It’s Okay!” As long as you pick up the pen, you have found an outlet for your inner voice. We look forward to celebrating this sincere creative liberation with everyone who dares to begin.
