Ella Lama is a self-taught illustrator based in Manila, Philippines. She first got her start as a hand-letterer, a medium that has helped her impart messages of hope and reassurance to anyone who views her work. Now, much of her output is inspired by daily life, travel, and one of here many hobbies—junk journaling, embroidery and punch needle crafting, reading books about books, learning about and tasting different coffees, and trying new cookie recipes. While she mostly uses digital tools like Procreate app and Adobe Photoshop, she explores different analog media in her spare time, particularly colored pencils, gouache, and collage. When she’s not busy with client commissions, she creates artworks for her own stationery and novelty goods brand. She also organizes workshops and meetups for fellow artists and her local journaling community.
